Strike a Pose: Life through the Camera Lens
Not even two decades ago,
photography was very different from what it is today. Those were the
days of film rolls and developing centers, when cellphones were
limited to making calls and had no picture-taking capability. It's
interesting how quickly times change, and now you won't be able to
walk around the city without seeing at least one—try hundreds—of
photo-capable devices.
The very idea of
“capturing a moment” was redefined with the rise of social media
and technological capability. Now you can fit many years of
photographs and videos in a single chip, and it has led to people's
obsession with documenting practically everything in their lives.
Here's how life works these days: breakfast, Instagram post;
malling, tag friends on Facebook; sports blooper, YouTube hit; a
sleeping cat, viral within a few hours.
On one hand, it's great
that people can now preserve important events and memories; on the
other hand, maybe people are just a little bit obsessed. Either way,
it's undeniable that cameras have become an integral part of people's
lives. A world without them has become inconceivable.
Life through the camera
lens isn't bad at all, as it forges unity among people all over the
world. People just have to be careful not to get too addicted because
that would be counterproductive. Besides, if you can't beat 'em, join
'em; so hold still and strike a pose.
